Menlo College Athletes
Athletes from Menlo College are coaching the BAWSI Girls Team at Selby Lane Elementary in Redwood City this fall. Some of the teams they represent are women's basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, cross country and wrestling. The basketball team, two-time California Pacific Conference Champions, is ranked number 10 in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball preseason polls. The Lady Oaks were also selected as the top team in the pre-season Cal Pac coaches' poll. The Lady Oaks finished the 2006-07 season with a 25-3 overall record, the highest winning percentage in the program's ten-year history. The Lady Oaks also made history last season with a No. 7 national ranking in the NAIA Top 25 polls, after posting 18 consecutive wins.
The Menlo College softball team has a new head coach, Danielle Stines. "Danielle is competitive and hungry to build a championship program," stated Athletic Director Caitlin Collier. "I am looking forward to helping her achieve this goal." Stines brings an impressive playing and coaching resume to the Oaks' program. Last season, Stines served as head coach at Foothill Community College where two of her players earned All-Conference honors.
The Menlo College women's volleyball team swept William Jessup University in three quick games in their final road match of the year on Friday, Nov. 2. The Oaks claimed the victory with the scores of 30-24, 30-18, and 30-16. With a 10-4 conference record (13-11 overall), Menlo College finishes third in the California Pacific Conference standings behind Holy Names University and Dominican University.
